Monta Vista Market has been officially certified as a BAY AREA GREEN BUSINESS by the County of Santa Clara and the City of Cupertino. We are the first and only Cupertino market to be certified! If green is important to you, we'd love to have your business. Actually we are doubly green, as all of our produce and almost all groceries are certified organic too. Next time you are in the store, ask us what else we are doing to respect our environment in the areas of power consumption, paper products, recycling, composting, water usage, buying local, and use of produce/shopping bags.

Our unique partnership with ALBA, a Salinas-based non-profit, allows us to feature its "ALBA ORGANICS" brand produce and support its bilingual organic farming training program for limited-resource and aspiring farmers. About 30 farmer trainees and farmer graduates of the ALBA program lease farmland on portions of ALBA's acreage near Salinas and Watsonville to grow the fruits and vegetables sold under the ALBA ORGANICS label.

 

Monta Vista Market's owner, Peter Yessne, is a 35-year resident of Cupertino and has resided for the last 25 years in the Monta Vista neighborhood, where he and his wife Gail presides over their own organic vegetable garden.

 

Two percent of all sales at Monta Vista Market are rebated to ALBA to help support its farmer training programs.
